Installing on Android

Install the app

Your administrator will send you a link or APK to install the app. If it's not distributed via the Play Store, you may need to allow installs from your browser or file manager the first time — your device will prompt you if this is required.

First-time setup

  1. Open the app.
  2. Tap Scan QR Code and point your camera at the code your administrator provided.
  3. The app downloads your extension and company branding automatically.
  4. Grant the permissions the app asks for — microphone access is required for calls, and notification access is required so incoming calls can reach you when the app isn't open.
  5. You're ready to make and receive calls.

Incoming calls

Incoming calls use Android's telecom/ConnectionService integration, so they'll appear as a native incoming call on your device.

Battery optimisation

Some Android manufacturers aggressively restrict background apps to save battery, which can delay or block incoming calls. If you find calls aren't reaching you reliably, check your device's battery settings and exclude DT Communicator from any "battery optimisation" or "app sleep" restrictions.

If setup doesn't work

  • Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data before scanning the code.
  • QR codes are single-use and tied to one extension — if you've already set up another device with the same code, ask your administrator for a new one.
  • See Registration Failed if the app shows a registration error after setup.
